One Thing (Marketing)

One thing that comes to mind when looking through my GitHub repositories:

I’ve cultivated quite a handful of skills.

I have no problem cultivating skills.

But putting those skills to service for someone else – that’s a totally different thing.

How do I communicate what I have to offer to other people?

People don’t know about me.

They don’t know what I can do. They don’t care.

They won’t come knocking at my door saying:

“Hey Dan, what can you offer me? What’s your value, what are you capable of doing today?”

That won’t happen. It doesn’t work like that. So, what’s left to do then?

Brag. Show. Tell. Promote. Show them what you’re capable of.

Have an offer. Create an offer. Multiple offers.

Something they can easily say yes to.

With their wallets, preferably.

They don’t know what you can do for them.

But if I don’t promote myself, how will they know, if I don’t market my offer?

Blogging as the longest online interview. Building trust.

They will know only what gets through the cracks. Only what I let them see.

So what do they see? Is this what I want them to see?

Does it lead to them wanting to work with me, to hire me?
